Dillon Danis’ lawyers file motion to withdraw as counsel in Nina Agdal lawsuit

Dillon Danis likely needs to find a new lawyer after the attorneys representing him in the ongoing lawsuit filed by Nina Agdal asked the judge to withdraw from the case.

In a filing made on Sept. 12, Danis’ lead attorney Mark Berman, on behalf of Hartmann Doherty Rosa Berman & Bulbulia LLP, filed a motion to withdraw as counsel after repeated issues representing the former Bellator fighter.

The attorneys filed to withdraw based on “defendant’s failure to comply with the terms of the firm’s retainer agreement” and “a breakdown in communication between defendant and counsel which has resulted in, among other things, counsel’s failure to ensure compliance with court orders.”

In the motion to withdraw, Danis’ former attorneys stated that he has “failed to pay the firm’s monthly invoices in a timely fashion and has failed to maintain the required retainer agreement” based on the contract to hire them and “this has been a recurring problem.”

“I personally like Mr. Danis, I find this case to be an interesting one and I would prefer to continue representing him,” Berman wrote in the filing. “However, I cannot do so effectively if he fails to respond to my communications and the firm will not allow me to do so if he fails to comply with the terms of the retainer agreement.

“For those reasons, counsel respectfully asks the court to grant counsel leave to withdraw as counsel for the defendant.”

The lawsuit was initially filed back in September 2023 after Agdal — a famous model who is engaged to social influencer and part-time boxer Logan Paul — accused Danis of posting “despicable” things about her more than 250 times since a boxing match he booked against Paul was first announced. Agdal claimed she suffered “humiliation, emotional distress and reputational harm” from Danis’ repeated posts about her.

Agdal also claimed that at least one post Danis made involved a sexually explicit image taken from a “romantic encounter” more than 10 years ago, alleging it violated federal and state law.

Agdal asked for unspecified damages as part of the lawsuit, but she’s requesting no less than $150,000 per violation of federal law, which prohibits sharing intimate images.

Following the motion to withdraw filed by his former attorneys, Judge Michael A. Hammer ordered an in-person conference scheduled on Sept. 24 to address the ongoing issues, which includes a long-running saga over the search for a cell phone that belonged to the fighter and that Danis “must appear in person” for the conference.
