Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya might be the perfect example about when your rivals become your idols.
Following a pair of fights in kickboxing ,and then back-to-back wars in the UFC, Pereira and Adesanya have put any bad feelings aside and now they’re actually friendly enough to sit together to watch the fights at UFC 312.
Adesanya posted a photo on Saturday showing him seated next to Pereira and his coach Plinio Cruz as they enjoyed the fights from Sydney, Australia. The caption of the photo simply said ‘Chama!’

It’s a far cry from their fights in the UFC where Pereira scored a knockout on Adesanya to win the middleweight title before Adesanya avenged that loss with a vicious knockout of his own over the Brazilian a few months later.
While Adesanya is largely enjoying UFC 312 as a fan, Pereira actually has business to handle after he volunteered to corner former opponent Sean Strickland as he prepares to compete in the main event against Dricus du Plessis. Pereira and Strickland have trained together in the past and now they’ll team up in hopes of dethroning du Plessis with the middleweight title going up for grabs.
