The mixed martial artist known as “Bomba” has died, according to family members.

Former UFC and Bellator fighter Guilherme Vasconcelos is dead at 38. The news first surfaced through Facebook posts by his uncle and mother. A cause of death was not revealed.

Vasconcelos posted an Instagram story less than 24 hours before news of his death surfaced. The post showed a picture of the outside of a Gracie Barra gym.

A veteran of 16 professional MMA bouts, Vasconcelos entered the international spotlight in early 2014 as a cast member on “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil, Season 3.” He went 1-1 on the reality series but was signed to the UFC anyway. He competed once under the promotion’s banner at UFC 175 in July 2014 but lost a unanimous decision to Luke Zachrich.

The lone loss led to Vasconcelos’ UFC departure. After four more fights on the regional scene, Vasconcelos signed with Bellator. He fought six times under the banner and went 3-3. His final fight took place at Bellator 229 in October 2019.

Vasconcelos attracted not only the eyes of MMA fans, but followers of the celebrity gossip beat for his relationship with Grammy-nominated singer Demi Lovato. The two began dating in 2016 and eventually split in 2017.

Many in the MMA community mourned the loss of Vasconcelos on social media. Scroll below to see some of the tribute posts.
