Speaking to TVInsider, AEW President Tony Khan claimed that
Grand Slam: Australia was always planned as a television
event.

Khan, who announced Grand Slam: Australia from the Suncorp
Stadium in August of last year, said that TNT “recently”
brought to them the opportunity to follow the NBA All-Star
weekend.

“We saw it as a huge opportunity. It was a great vote of
confidence for our partners at Warner Brothers Discovery,”
Khan said. “It will be one of the biggest nights of the year
on TNT. It’s a great opportunity given the lead-in.”

Grand Slam: Australia has moved to the much smaller Brisbane
Entertainment Centre, where the show is close to selling out
with around 12,000 fans in attendance.

“This will be one of the biggest TV events of the year. This
will arguably be the biggest TV card of the year,” Khan
added.
