Despite claiming he'd lose to Flair in a match, it doesn't seem like Cena has given up on possibly beating the legend's championship record. Cena pointed out that he doesn't want to simply walk into WWE and get a title shot, but instead pursue the many opportunities across the year at the various big PLE's like Money in the Bank and Royal Rumble, to earn a shot.

Because of all the potential chances he'll have at proving himself, Cena thinks that this could build anticipation and make people believe that he might just break the record, especially if he starts winning matches again in January, as he hasn't tasted victory since 2018.

"'And at that point? I don't give a f**k who it's with, as long as I can just get a chance, right?" Cena said. "But I also, having been that champion, I respect the process and I don't ever want to take somebody's spot."
