Kennedy Nzechukwu might be on to something with this whole heavyweight thing.
“African Savage” improved to 2-0 since moving up from light heavyweight with a thudding knockout of Lukasz Brzeski on Saturday at UFC 310 in Las Vegas. It was the second straight first-round finish for Nzechukwu (14-5), who put Brzeski down for the count with less than 10 seconds remaining in the opening round.

Showing off his impressive power, Nzechukwu stalked Brzeski for much of the round before catching him in the center of the octagon. A stiff left got Brzeski’s attention, leaving him open for a power right hand that jarred his senses. Brzeski fell to the mat and Nzechukwu followed up with strikes on the ground to seal the deal.
That’s two straight wins as a heavyweight now for Nzechukwu, who defeated Chris Barnett via first-round TKO this past October. Nzechukwu made a quick turnaround after stepping in on short notice for Tallison Teixeira, who withdrew due to an injury.
Brzeski (9-6-1) sees his UFC record fall to 1-5 with his second consecutive knockout loss.
