AEW DYNAMITE was broadcast live on TBS from the Santander
Arena in Reading, PA!
Excalibur, “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard, and Tony Schiavone
were the broadcast team for tonight’s event.
It’s Wednesday night and you know what that means!
All Star 8-Man Tag Match!
“The Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay, Mark Davis, Powerhouse
Hobbs, & Ricochet
vs.
AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle
Fletcher, “The MurderHawk Monster” Lance Archer, & ROH World
TV Champion “The Machine” Brian Cage!
Both teams brawled as The Don Callis Family made their
entrance. Don Callis was nowhere to be found.
Davis caught Takeshita, planted him, and then squashed him
with a sit-out senton. Ricochet took flight over the top
rope, wiping out Takeshita on the arena floor. Hobbs had his
knee sandwiched between the steel ring steps and the edge of
the ring by Lance Archer. AEW Medical Staff checked on
Hobbs. Powerhouse Hobbs limped his way to the back.
Ricochet reversed a choke slam attempt by Archer with a
hurracanrana. Archer choke slammed Ricochet over the top
rope and down onto his partners!
Ricochet rocked Takeshita with a handspring back elbow.
Ospreay tagged in and he and Fletcher slugged it out, a
preview of what we’ll see this Saturday at Full Gear.
Takeshita tagged back in, but Davis hoisted Takeshita with a
fireman’s carry into a kick from Ospreay. Ospreay and Davis
followed up with a double team cutter on Takeshita.
With help from Cage and Archer, Takeshita blasted Ospreay
with a blue thunder bomb for a near fall. Ospreay barely
beat the count. Hobbs hobbled his way back to the ring and
nailed Fletcher with a lariat.
Hobbs grabbed a tag, and he leveled Takeshita with lariats.
Cage and Archer tried to suplex Hobbs, but he blocked it and
countered with a flying double lariat. Hobbs power slammed
Archer and tagged Mark Davis.
Davis smoked Takeshita with a powerful right hand strike.
Davis blocked a knee strike from Takeshita. Davis spiked
Takeshita with a gut wrench piledriver. Fletcher slapped
Davis but Davis took his former partner down and grounded
and pounded him.
Cage power bombed Ricochet, but Hobbs was waiting with a
spinebuster. Ospreay wiped out Archer with a flying elbow.
Fletcher and Ospreay traded strikes again. Fletcher
connected with a standing Spanish Fly. Ospreay inadvertently
hit Davis with a Hidden Blade after Fletcher pulled Davis
into the path of destruction. Fletcher flew out of the ring
with a tope to Ospreay. Takeshita dropped his knee pad and
smashed Davis with a power drive knee, scoring the pin fall
victory!
AEW World Champion Jon Moxley had harsh words for Orange
Cassidy!
Moxley: “I don’t care if you’re a great guy. I don’t care
what type of person you are. When the bell rings on Saturday
night and the AEW World Championship hangs in the balance,
you are a threat to my people, and I will destroy you!”
Renee Paquette was outside waiting to get a word with The
Hurt Syndicate!
MVP: “I have a special treat and that’s an announcement.
Bobby Lashley will be in action tonight prior to Full Gear!”
Swerve Strickland ambushed Bobby Lashley, striking him with
a fist wrapped in a steel chain!
Adam Cole came out to the ring next!
Adam Cole: “I wish so, so badly that I could say that I was
going to get my hands on MJF this Saturday but I’m not.
Roderick Strong succeeded and me and Roddy have the exact
same goal and that’s to give MJF the ass whooping of a
lifetime. That’s exactly what’ll happen at Full Gear!”
The Conglomeration’s Kyle O’Reilly came down to the ring!
Kyle: “14 years ago in Reading, PA, we had our second match
against one another. And I’m willing to tell you the truth.
This crusade with MJF has got to end before someone gets
hurt. You’ve got friends willing to take a bullet for you,
but you’ve got to stop having your friends fight your
battles.”
Adam: “Kyle, are you trying to say you don’t think Roddy can
handle MJF?”
Kyle: “Messing with MJF is like playing with fire and I
don’t want to see my friends get hurt. You’ve got to face
facts, man. MJF is more of an evil bastard than you will
ever be. And that’s a good thing.”
Kyle left the ring without saying another word to Cole.
Hikaru Shida vs. Kris Statlander!
Before she faces TBS Champion “The C.E.O.” Mercedes Moné at
AEW Full Gear, Statlander faced 3x AEW Women’s Champion
Hikaru Shida.
Statlander swept out Shida’s legs and followed up with a
moonsault press. Shida fired back with a running knee lift
as Kris was draped over the apron.
Statlander retaliated with a blue thunder bomb for a near
fall. Shida cracked Kris with a shining samurai knee strike!
Shida used a backslide for a near fall. Shida smashed
Statlander with a falcon arrow!
Shida drilled Kris with a German Suplex. Statlander planted
Shida out of nowhere with the Wednesday Night Fever and
scored the pin!
TBS Champion “The C.E.O.” Mercedes Moné and Kamille walked
onto the ramp!
Mercedes: “Kris, you had an incredible victory tonight and I
am rarely impressed by my competition. I have held this TBS
Championship longer than you, so at Full Gear I will not
lose because I am the C.E.O. and the greatest TBS Champion
of all time. I will never lose this title! Kamille, go get
her and get the job done! Go!”
Kamille, her arm in a sling, stepped into the ring. Kamille
tried to strike Kris, but Kris blocked it. Shida rocked
Kamille with a question mark kick! Mercedes jumped on Kris’
back looking for the backstabber, but Statlander countered
with the Wednesday Night Fever!
2 on 1 Match!
The Hurt Syndicate’s Bobby Lashley (with MVP & Shelton
Benjamin)
vs. Joe Keys & Cheeseburger!
Lashley hurled Cheeseburger across the ring and then speared
him. Lashley wiped out both competitors. Lashley ran over
Cheeseburger with a lariat with extra mustard. Joe Keys
hammered away at Bobby, but Bobby flattened him! Lashley
speared Keys! Lashley applied the Hurt Lock on Keys and the
ref stopped the match!
After the match, Swerve Strickland’s music began to play.
Prince Nana was on the stage wielding a chair! Swerve
crawled out from beneath the ring and nailed all three
members of the Hurt Syndicate with the steel chain. Swerve
connected with the Swerve Stomp on Lashley!
Renee Paquette was backstage with Mina Shirakawa and AEW
World Champion Mariah May!
Mariah: “In my division, you hold this title, or you die!”
Mina: “I will give Mariah a celebration she’ll never forget!
Everyone wants Mina. I want Mariah!”
Darby Allin vs. AEW World Trios Champion Claudio Castagnoli!
Darby took Claudio down with an arm drag. Darby followed up
with a body press. Darby tried for the Coffin Drop but
Claudio caught him and tossed him to the side. Claudio body
blocked Darby into the barricade. Claudio hit Darby with a
European Uppercut, knocking Darby clear over the barricade.
Darby got the upper hand with a tope, rocketing out of the
ring with incredible speed and velocity. Claudio swept out
Darby’s legs on the top turnbuckle. Claudio nailed Darby
with an avalanche gut wrench suplex for a near fall!
“Darby Allin will not quit!” said Matt Menard.
Darby drilled Claudio with a Code Red! Claudio booted Darby
in the head. Claudio hurled Darby with the Giant Swing into
the steel ring steps! Claudio whipped Darby over the
announcers’ table. Claudio press slammed Darby from on top
of the announcers’ desk onto the timekeeper’s table!
“This kid is unbelievable. I’ve never seen anything like
this in my life,” said Tony Schiavone.
Claudio leveled Darby with a lariat and then pinned Darby.
“A dominant victory for the Death Riders!” said Excalibur.
Renee Paquette was backstage with AEW World Tag Team
Champions Private Party!
They said it felt like the odds were stacked against them
this Saturday at Full Gear, but then again, the odds have
always been stacked against them, and they still became
champs.
MJF had strong words for Roderick Strong ahead of their
match this Saturday at Full Gear!
MJF: “Roderick Strong, you’ve been through so much in your
childhood. You’d do anything for Cole because he makes you
feel all those positive things you lacked. But Cole is a
fraud and a liar. Deep down there is a man that cares about
Roderick Strong. So I’m happy you won because I want Cole to
see a man he cares about suffer. And I’m going to send you
back to the trailer park.
Tony Schiavone interviewed Roderick Strong, who was
accompanied by Matt Taven and Mike Bennett!
Roddy: “I have not slept a wink since Wednesday. It is
finally happening. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. I
finally get my hands on you Max! Am I supposed to be ashamed
about my childhood, Max? You don’t think I’ve heard that
before? Good job Max, you made me feel like I’m in
elementary school again. With my life, I learned to get the
most out of it, you must earn it. If you want to break the
cycle, you must earn it.
“Look at you Max. You’ve been spoon-fed everything. And you
throw a temper tantrum when something doesn’t go your way.
Think about all the backstabbing and using you’ve done and
at Full Gear, you’re going to pay for all those sins with
every chop and back breaker!”
Footage played from last Saturday when Daddy Magic and
Daniel Garcia took “Scapegoat” Jack Perry hostage!
Garcia: “Jack, this place is full of savages. We’ve got to
take that power away from you.”
Perry: “Everyone cares about something until they’ve got to
sacrifice.”
Garcia: “I know where you want me to go, and I promise I’m
never going to go there.”
Jack Perry spat at Garcia. Garcia grabbed a crowbar and
began to hammer Perry’s vehicle!
Perry laughed and said, “That’s it?”
ROH World Champion “The Learning Tree” Chris Jericho
vs.
The Conglomeration’s Tomohiro Ishii 2 Contract Signing!
Ahead of their ROH World championship match taking place
next week on Dynamite, Jericho and Ishii put pen to paper to
make it official!
Renee told Chris that as champion, he had the honor to sign
first.
Jericho: “I don’t just sign contracts randomly. I have a
whole legal team that will need to read this over.”
Jericho left the room, and Ishii followed him through the
concourse. Jericho walked through the arena to the ring, as
Ishii continued to stalk Jericho.
Jericho: “Hey, listen, Ishii, I would sign this contract,
but I don’t have a pen.”
Ishii pulled a pen out and handed it to Jericho. Jericho
reluctantly signed the contract for next Wednesday. Big Bill
and Bryan Keith ambushed Ishii and held him back as Jericho
was about to stab Ishii with a pen. Mark Briscoe and Rocky
Romero ran to the ring to even up the odds for Ishii! Mark
planted Keith with the Jay Driller. Ishii blasted Jericho
with a brain buster! Ishii picked up the contract and signed
it, making the match official for one week from tonight at
Dynamite!
Renee Paquette was backstage with Jamie Hayter!
Hayter: “My reaction to being cut off last week by Julia
Hart? I’m a bit baffled because I’ve never spoken to her or
wrestled her. I’m just curious as to why she felt she needed
to do that.”
Another Julie Hart vignette aired, interrupting Jamie Hayter
for a second week in a row.
Teacher vs. Student!
“Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy vs. AEW World Trios
Champion Wheeler Yuta!
Wheeler Yuta blasted Orange with a shotgun dropkick. Orange
blocked a boot and countered with a stun dog millionaire.
Orange followed up with a tope suicida.
Yuta pulped Orange with a brain buster on the barricade!
Yuta spiked Orange with a DDT on the apron, targeting
Orange’s neck.
Orange stunned Yuta with a PK and then a brain buster for a
near fall! Yuta dodged the Orange Punch and countered with a
German Suplex. Yuta nailed Orange with hammer and anvil
strikes. Orange tore at the fingers of Wheeler and hit a
Michinoku Driver!
Wheeler spiked Orange with a piledriver but Orange kicked
out at the two-count! Wheeler went back to the hammer and
anvil elbow strikes. Wheeler applied the Cattle Mutilation.
Orange managed to reach the bottom rope with his feet,
forcing the ref to break the hold.
Yuta swung a steel chair at Orange and Orange ducked it.
Orange rolled up Wheeler and scored the pin with his
technique! “The Bastard” PAC blindsided Orange with a pump
kick after the match! Claudio Castagnoli, Jon Moxley, and
Marina Shafir jumped into the ring.
Claudio put Orange’s hands in his pockets while PAC taped
Orange’s hands and arms to his midsection. Jon Moxley
smacked Orange with a knockout punch. The Death Riders
picked up Orange, swarming him. Moxley knocked Orange back
to the mat.
The Conglomeration came down to check on Orange and free him
from the tape. Orange, defiant to the end, put his hands in
his pockets, taunting Jon Moxley!
