Logan Paul claims Conor McGregor sent message saying boxing bout ‘can and will happen’

Logan Paul is fully focused on his WWE career. With one notable exception.

In December, UFC star Conor McGregor started a rumor that he is in negotiations with India’s billionaire Ambani family to set up exhibition boxing bout with Paul that would supposedly take place in Mumbai. Despite there still being no public comment from the Ambanis, McGregor has continued to push the bout as a possibility and combat sports pundits have speculated on its viability, especially with the $250 million that has been thrown out there as a potential payday for McGregor and Paul.

In a recent episode of his YouTube vlog, Paul played a message off of his phone that he claims is McGregor saying, “This can happen, my man. For real. This can and will happen.”

Later, in the video, Paul is seen discussing the McGregor fight with a trainer while planning out a WWE promo.

“Saying ‘no more boxing,’ that will get some attention, I think, because that’s not true,” Paul said. “Because if Conor McGregor wants to fight, we are running it.”

“It’s an epic fight,” he added. “It would be something I would step away from WWE for a second to go do... $250 million. I’ve got to take that. If [WWE President] Nick Khan matches that, I’ll stay in the WWE. ... I think he’s trying to pressure Dana into making it happen because he’s owned by the UFC. He can’t [expletive] [expletive] let alone fight without them knowing.”

Paul appears to be dedicating his time to his budding pro wrestling career after making several past appearances for the WWE that were well received by fans and critics. The 29-year-old influencer has proven to excel at garnering strong reactions, be they positive or negative, and he’s parlayed that into in-ring success despite his limited experience.

Even if Paul were to change course and make a return to the boxing ring—he has not competed since winning a farcical pro bout against rival Dillon Danis in October 2023—he would still require approval from his WWE bosses, while McGregor’s involvement would also have to be signed off on by his UFC handlers. UFC CEO Dana White recently show down the possibility of McGregor vs. Paul happening.

Still, if the opportunity somehow moves closer to fruition, then Paul would jump on it in a second, especially after allegedly receiving a message from McGregor himself.

Also in the vlog, Paul shared a clip of himself briefly chatting with TKO CEO Ari Emanuel and jokingly asking him to clear him for the McGregor fight.

Watch that clip below.

“Ari, Ari, I need one favor from you,” Paul said. “I need you to green-light me vs. Conor. No, but seriously.”

McGregor has not competed since breaking his leg in a fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. He was recently found liable in a sexual assault civil suit for an incident that occurred in December 2018, and it was also recently reported he is being sued in civil court for another alleged sexual assault that occurred in June 2023.
