Magomedov vs. Page took place Feb. 1 at the anb Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Shara Magomedov (15-1) and Michael Page (23-3) squared off in the the middleweight clash. The fight aired live on pay-per-view on ESPN+.

Official decision: Michael Page def. Shara Magomedov via unanimous decision (30-27 x2, 29-28)

Round 1

Jason Herzog is the third man in the cage, and we’re off and running.

MVP using his classic karate stance, throws out a pair of quick high kicks. “Shara” chants filling the arena. Both men staying patient, and then each landing jabs. Now, dueling “MVP” and “Shara” chants, as Page charges in and knocks Magomedov off-balance with a quick flurry. Page throws a home run swing of a right hand and they battle against the cage.

About two minutes left in the opening round and both men trade low leg kicks. MVP lands a beautiful straight right to the ribs of Magomedov. Both men bouncing around looking to load up, Page lands a clean right hand.

Final 45 seconds of the round, Shara lands a couple of hard leg kicks, and now he’s moving forward. Spin kick lands to the chin of Magomdeov by Page and that’s the round.

Round 2

Page looks very comfortable as a middleweight, looking big in there through five minutes.

Oblique kick from Page right out of the gate, then lands a lightning quick right hand. Magomedov whiffs on a leg kick, Page inching in a little closer, using his six inch reach advantage beautifully in this fight. Wheel kick attempt by MVP blocked, jab behind it comes up short. Both men throw and miss, leading to a tie-up. Shara throws a leg kick, but Page saw it coming from a mile away. Counter right from MVP finds the mark, Magomedov throws a front kick that grazes his opponent. Jumping knee to the body from Page with two minutes to go.

Magomedov looks completely thrown off of his game, he needs to get something going, and get the aggression level up, but Page is having a lot of fun making him miss. Magomedov lands a right hand, then a counter left, spinning back fist answer from Page lightly lands. Clinch from Magomedov, but Page gets the superior position against the cage wall. Final 20 seconds and Page continues to win the fence war. Page separates, throws a quick elbow, and there’s the horn. Page up 2-0 in my eyes.

Round 3

Magomedov’s corner essentially telling him exactly what we’re all thinking: Get a finish, or you lose.

They touch gloves to start the third round. Magomedov kicks to the body, Page drums Magomedov’s head back with a clean jab. Page continues to switch stances and drills “Bullet” with a nasty right hand. Lead left hook from MVP, Magomedov ties him up, but they separate. Clinch leads to a knee attempt from Magomedov, but to no avail.

Huge flying knee from Page echoes throughout the arena. Magomedov eats it and takes Page to the fence. Final two minutes, and Magomedov not showing the urgency of a fighter who is clearly down two rounds on the cards.

Final 75 seconds, Page lands a left, Magomedov counters. Both guys land in a heavy exchange. Left jab by Page, Magomedov avoids a flying knee. Page falls to his back, lands a nasty upkick. Magomedov ends the round on top, and Page is about to be a ranked middleweight in the UFC rankings come Tuesday barring a robbery.
