UFC 305 live blog: Kai Kara-France vs. Steve Erceg

This is the UFC 305 live blog for Kai Kara-France vs. Steve Erceg, the co-main event fight this Saturday in Perth, Australia.

A one-time interim flyweight title challenger, Kara-France joined UFC in 2018 and immediately began making waves by winning his first three fights. Losses to top contenders Brandon Moreno and Brandon Royval set “KKF” back, but another three-fight winning streak put him into an interim title fight against Moreno, who he again lost to. Most recently, Kara-France dropped a controversial decision to Amir Albazi a year ago, so “Don’t Blink” now finds himself staring down a three-fight losing streak if he can’t get things done on Saturday.

A well-regarded but unheralded prospect just one year ago, Erceg burst onto the UFC scene in 2023 with wins over David Dvorak and Alessandro Costa. Then, back in March, Erceg scored the biggest win of his career, a one-punch knockout of Matt Schnell that earned him a title shot against Alexandre Pantoja. Though Erceg fell short in a competitive bout against the champion, “Astroboy” now has another chance to prove himself as one of the top flyweights in the world.
