NEW YORK, N.Y. — UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones, former two-time heavyweight titleholder Stipe Miocic, former lightweight champ Charles Oliveira, Michael Chandler, and the rest of the UFC 309 fight card faced off for the final time at ceremonial weigh-ins.
Jones puts his title on the line for the first time since capturing the belt at UFC 285 in March 2023 with a first-round submission against Ciryl Gane. After nearly two years away, “Bones” gets the fight he wants against the most accomplished UFC heavyweight champion of all-time. After stepping on the famous Ali vs. Frazier scale, Jones gave his final thoughts to Joe Rogan.
“Tomorrow is an awesome opportunity to display this gift that God has given me,” Jones said. “I’m super excited, I feel great. And still.”
Miocic competes in his first bout since losing the title to Francis Ngannou at UFC 260 in March 2021. For the former two-time champ, the time for talking is over.
“It’s about time,” Miocic said. “Finally, and new.”
UFC 309 takes place Nov. 16 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
