UFC Fight Night 248 pre-event facts: Carlos Ulberg's hot streak nearing a promotional best

The UFC returns to Macau for the first time in more than 10 years on Saturday with UFC Fight Night 248, which goes down on Galaxy Arena and streams on ESPN+.

A highly anticipated bantamweight fight headlines the card. Former divisional kingpin Petr Yan (17-5 MMA, 9-4 UFC) takes on former two-time flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo (24-3-1 MMA, 13-3-1 UFC) in a matchup that could serve as a title eliminator.

Yan became the first fighter in UFC history to lose a title by disqualification against Sterling at UFC 259.

Yan is one of two fighters in UFC history to hold the interim and undisputed bantamweight titles. Renan Barao also accomplished the feat.

Yan’s 10 knockdowns landed in UFC bantamweight competition are tied with Marlon Vera and Cody Garbrandt for second-most in divisional history behind Montel Jackson (11).

Figueiredo, a former two-time flyweight champion, is 3-0 since he moved up to the UFC bantamweight division in December.

Figueiredo is one of five flyweight champions in UFC history. Alexandre Pantoja, Brandon Moreno, Henry Cejudo and Demetrious Johnson also held the title. He and Moreno are the only members of the group to have multiple reigns.

Figueiredo and Moreno are the only opponents in UFC history to face each other four times.

Figueiredo made the fastest title-fight turnaround in UFC history at 21 days at UFC 255 and UFC 256.

Figueiredo’s seven stoppage victories in UFC flyweight competition are tied with Johnson for most in divisional history.

Figueiredo’s four knockout victories in UFC flyweight competition are tied for second-most in divisional history behind Joseph Benavidez (five).

Figueiredo’s 11 knockdowns landed in UFC flyweight competition are most in divisional history.

Volkan Oezdemir (20-7 MMA, 8-6 UFC) has earned 15 of his 20 career victories by stoppage.

Carlos Ulberg’s (9-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) six-fight UFC winning streak at light heavyweight is the longest active streak in the division.

Ulberg’s five-fight UFC stoppage streak is the second-longest among active fighters in the company behind Shavkat Rakhmonov (six).

Ulberg lands 60.3 percent of his significant strike attempts in UFC light heavyweight competition, the second-highest rate in divisional history behind Alex Pereira (67.2 percent).

Ulberg lands 7.52 significant strikes per minute in UFC light heavyweight competition, the highest rate in divisional history.
