Virna Jandiroba’s UFC tenure didn’t start the way she expected when she came over in 2019 as Invicta’s strawweight champion.
Jandiroba lost her promotional debut to former titleholder Carla Esparza. But her next time out, she made up for it with a submission of Mallory Martin. Then in 2020, after the delays of the pandemic, it finally was time for her to get back to work.
Jandiroba took on women’s MMA pioneer Felice Herrig at UFC 252 in Las Vegas and tapped her with a first-round armbar for the first $50,000 post-fight bonus of her career, and at the time the biggest name on her resume.
Saturday, Jandiroba (20-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) is back for her first UFC main event. At UFC on ESPN 60 in Las Vegas, she’ll take on former title challenger Amanda Lemos (14-3-1 MMA, 8-3 UFC) in a fight that is a virtual pick’em at the betting window.
But before Jandiroba throws down with Lemos at the UFC Apex, check out how she finished Herrig in the video above.
