Decided to hang em up for realz this time

This game has been good to me and helped me develop and become a better person. It’s going to be strange not having a fight coming up(unless Fauci decides to man up ), but I’ll be guiding the next generation over at @algeomma.

I’ve met plenty of cool ppl along the way chasing their dreams and shared the cage with some rivals, friends and heroes of mine.

Thank you to the @ufc and the @ufc staff for taking care of me and for having the balls to bring sports back safely in the pandemic. My gym was labeled non-essential for 3-4 months and the ufc helped provide income during that weird time. #forevergrateful

Thankyou to my ppls who have been with me since the beginning and buying tickets to random casinos to help me live my dream. Thank you to @santtiiii for helping me through the ups and downs of this game cause there’s been plenty.

“This game has been good to me and helped me develop and become a better person,” Algeo wrote in an accompanying caption, adding that he will continue to work as a coach at his gym, Algeo MMA & Kickboxing in King of Prussia, Pa. He also expressed his gratitude to the UFC for “taking care of me and for having the balls to bring sports safely in the pandemic. My gym was labeled non-essential for three-to-four months and the UFC helped provide income during that weird time.”

A standout in the northeast regional scene, Algeo memorably fell short of a UFC contract in 2019 when he lost a unanimous decision to future PFL champion Brendan Loughnane. Algeo bounced back with a win at a show in his native Pennsylvania, then made his UFC debut in August 2020 as a short-notice replacement for Ryan Hall at UFC Vegas 8.

Algeo lost a decision to Ricardo Lamas, but both fighters were rewarded with Fight of the Night for their efforts. He made some noise with a 4-1 stretch that included a Performance of the Night win over Herbert Burns and another Fight of the Night award for his win against T.J. Brown, before losing his last two fights against Kyle Nelson and then Doo Ho Choi this past July.
