Tom Aspinall was impressed with Jon Jones at UFC 309.
Aspinall, the interim UFC heavyweight champion, sat octagon-side at Madison Square Garden for Jones’ heavyweight title defense against former two-time champ Stipe Miocic. Jones was dominant from the opening bell, nearly finishing Miocic in the first round, but the Cleveland native was able to survive to the horn.
Jones remained patient, yet dominant, until he landed the fight-ending spinning back kick to the body of Miocic to end the fight to remain heavyweight champion.
On the latest episode of UFC Connected, Aspinall had his own camera on him watching, reacting to, and even, at points, commentating the fight between Jones and Miocic.
Aspinall also reacted to Jones’ post-fight interview and not naming any specific names for his next bout — that is, if there is a next bout.
“No call out, he still won’t say it, but we’ll see,” Aspinall said.
The show also features Michael Page running down his top-five “favorite heavy hitters” in the UFC, Loma Lookboonmee looking back on early Muay Thai fights, and Jailton Almeida walking fans through his octagon debut. Watch the full episode of UFC Connected in the video above.
