Darren Till got off to a strong start in Misfits Boxing.

On Saturday in Manchester, England, Till made his promotional debut, stopping light heavyweight champion Anthony Taylor in a one-sided beatdown in the main event of Misfits 20.

Till was originally supposed to face Tommy Fury this weekend, however Fury withdrew from the bout, saying he was concerned Till would not adhere to the rules of boxing. In Fury’s place, Taylor stepped in on short notice but came up 20 pounds, competing at a catchweight. That size looked to be a major factor in the bout as early on Taylor had some success landing punches but simply could not hurt Till. In contrast, Till backed Taylor up freely and teed off with left hands.

For the first few rounds, that was the story of the bout as Till got the better of things with footwork and size. But things took a downward turn for Taylor in the third when Till started timing uppercuts as Taylor came in. The first time Till landed one it visibly hurt Taylor who clinched and then fell over. That was ruled a push down but Till still pounced when the bout restarted and Taylor was forced into survival mode.

The fourth round saw Till really put it on Taylor, landing another uppercut that floored Taylor again. This one was counted as a knockdown and while Taylor beat the count, he was forced to survive the rest of the round.

Well ahead moving into the fifth round, Till then opened up, looking for a finish, but Taylor showed his mettle, battling back and making Till work, even landing some shots that bloodied Till’s nose. The sixth was the end of that small comeback though as another uppercut again floored Taylor. He beat the count once again but this time he was on borrowed time, and when Till pounced with a combination, that was all she wrote.

After the bout, Till called for fights with Mike Perry and Jorge Masvidal, while also throwing shade at Tommy Fury. Taylor, meanwhile, teased retirement and then, per the broadcast, collapsed as he exited the ring and was transported to the hospital.
